This more than 240 year-old piece of art named "View of the Old Port of Toulon (the old port of Toulon)" was created by the male artist Juan Patricio Morlete Ruiz in 1771. Anteckningar från curatorn: Detta verk av Juan Patricio Morlete Ruiz var baserat på gravyrer av den ursprungliga serien av målningar, Ports de France, av den franske konstnären Claude-Joseph Vernet (1714–1789). Vernets serie omfattade femton målningar, som färdigställdes mellan 1753 och 1765. Beställd för Ludvig XV av Frankrike av Abel-François Poisson (1727–1781), markis de Marigny och bror till Madame de Pompadour, fick serien omedelbar framgång och fick stor spridning genom tryck. Målningarna av Morlete Ruiz bär det kungliga spanska vapnet, och det är troligt att de beställdes av vicekungen Antonio María de Bucareli y Ursúa (f. 1771–1779).
